Greenball Corporation: GreenEye Guardian - Verkada's Next-Gen Surveillance & Connectivity Initiative
Project Mission
Empowering Greenball Tires' factory with Verkada high-definition cameras for heightened security and operational efficiency, ensuring a safer and more productive workplace
Customer Intro
Greenball Corporation engages in the manufacture and wholesale of industrial tires, all terrain vehicle tires, wheelbarrow tires, motorcycle/scooter tires, lawn and garden tires, trailer tires, light truck tires, medium truck radial tires, Off the Road tires and forklift tires, as well as wheels, wheel accessories, and tube and valve systems. The company was founded in 1976 and is headquartered in Long Beach, California with branches in Fontana, California; Lakeland, Florida; Elkhart, Indiana; Martin, Tennessee; and Pageland, South Carolina.
The Opportunity
The previous surveillance system presented several challenges for Greenball. The existence of five outdated bullet cameras created a security risk, as they might need to provide the necessary coverage or image quality. Additionally, the removal of four existing bullet cameras may have been due to their obsolescence or unreliability, further compromising the facility's overall security. The misplacement of a dome camera in the main office disrupted effective monitoring, and the outdated Hikvision NVRs contributed to an inefficient and potentially unreliable video recording system. Furthermore, the absence of sufficient network infrastructure, such as a CAT6 run from the dock to the MDF, hampered the seamless flow of data, affecting the overall effectiveness of the surveillance network.
PM2net (Service Provider) aimed to address these issues comprehensively by implementing a Verkada camera solution. Installing five new dome cameras instead of the outdated bullet cameras ensured an upgrade to high-definition surveillance, enhancing the quality and coverage. Removing the four existing bullet cameras eliminated potential points of failure and improved the system's overall reliability. Repositioning the dome camera in the main office to the center of the floor optimized its surveillance capabilities. Upgrading the network infrastructure by installing two new 24-port switches in the MDF and running a new Cat6 from the dock improved data transfer efficiency. It supported the functionality of the new cameras.
For the outdoor area, the client aimed to enhance security by strategically placing a new dome or bullet camera in crucial locations, such as the loading dock, main gate, and in front of the main office. Leveraging existing CAT6 cables minimized costs while ensuring a seamless integration of new Verkada cameras. The commitment to properly disposing of old equipment and using a scissor lift for installation underscored PM2net's dedication to a professional and thorough upgrade of their surveillance infrastructure. The goal was to address the then-current challenges, future-proof the facility's security and operational efficiency, and complete the installation and configuration within five working days.
The Solution
Assessment and Planning
